Red Velvet Cupcakes

So...my husband and I are starting this new thing with our families where we get together with one of our parents on Thursday night. Each week we will alternate parents. Last Thursday we headed off to my parents with dessert in tow. I got the idea for red velvet cupcakes from one of my favorite baking bloggers here. Follow my attempt if you will....

First, I collected the goods:


Then I combined the dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately:




Then I combined all the ingredients to make this beautiful concoction:




I divvied up the batter into birthday paper liners (I thought I had some plain white ones but alas these were all I had on hand).



Then into the oven they went.
As they were baking, I made the frosting.
I gathered my ingredients and they came together for a deliciously sweet frosting:



I had to wait patiently for the cupcakes to cool:



But once they were ready I went to town with my new cupcake decorating tips I got from here. They are my new favorite toy!

They were yummy! And my family loved them.

Just a Test

I have been thinking one day when I have something worthwhile to write about (like kids or some new fun hobby) I'll get a blog. I don't have any of those things yet but I've decided to start one anyway. So this is simply a test to see how this "posting" stuff works.
